Folk medicinal uses

Roots - Kokwaro (1976) observed that a decoction of the roots is drunk to alleviate rheumatic pains.

Plant - According to Watt and Breyer - Brandwijk (1962) the plant is used in the treatment of miscarriage.

The leaf is used against fever.

Bark - A decoction of the bark is taken for chronic bronchial engorgement and is also used for abdominal pain. The juice of the bark and of the cambium have been used as ordeal poisons under the eyelid. A decoction of the stem bark is used for coughs.
